Along the way, he came across many small towns similar to those depicted in the Contamination stories (he even had a near-death experience on Route 191 in Arizona; one of the settings in Book One).

To this day, his travels play a large role in his writing. Thankfully, the zombies are purely a product of his imagination. Or so he hopes.
